Source: www.bizrate.com The Amazon Kindle 2 is the second generation of Amazon's E-book reader. The Amazon Kindle 2 provides access to the Amazon Kindle Marketplace which features over 275,000 electronic books. With the Kindle 2, users can carry and read hundreds of books on a single device.

The Amazon features a 6 inch e-ink display that is capable of displaying up to 16 shades of gray. The e-ink technology enables the Kindle 2 to be readable in bright light conditions. Because e-ink is very energy efficient, the includedrechargeable battery can last for days without charging. When it does charge, the Kindle 2 uses a proprietary USB 2.0 cable that connects to either a computer or a wall plug.

The major selling point of the Amazon Kindle 2 is that it is lightweight, stylish, and very practical. Then entire device only weighs only 10.2 ounces and it is .36 inches thick. The layout of the Kindle 2 is functional for both left and right handed readers, and the on-board QWERTY keypad includes easy to reach, large buttons.

The Amazon Kindle 2 includes 2GB of internal storage which is capable of storing over 1500 E-Books. The content for the Kindle itself is delivered via Sprint's EVDO Whispernet. Typical books are delivered in less than 60 seconds. Other materials can be converted into Amazon's proprietary, DRM protected file type by uploading them to Amazon. Once converted, the files can be delivered to the Kindle 2 via Amazon's transfer service for a fee, or they can be copied over manually via USB connection.
